Greetings , and happy Friday!
Thank you for helping Free Wheelchair Mission to provide over 734,000 individuals with the life transforming gift of a wheelchair since 2001. Our wheelchair recipients are mothers, fathers, sisters, doctors, teachers, students, farmers, and so on. They are very much like you and me. This week I wanted to share a story with you of a woman named Martha. Her story was shared with us by our partner in Nicaragua, Christian Aid Ministries:
Martha is 54 years old and is a mother of two sons. Although her sons are not her regular caregivers, Martha has the love and support of her live-in mother and granddaughter. Martha’s granddaughter works as a maid to bring an income into their home. For most of her life, Martha worked as a wash woman of neighbor’s clothes, but after suffering with diabetes for over 40 years, her right leg was amputated several years ago which inhibits her from working.
Martha was very thankful when she was given her gift of a brand new wheelchair, something she has needed since her amputation. “Now I will be able to rest on the wheelchair [not only in my bed] and I will be taken to the door to see people passing by. God bless you and I hope you can continue helping other disabled people like me.”
Proverbs 14:31 says, “Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honors him.” Thank you for honoring our Maker. Your continued support is a true blessing to individuals, like Martha, across the globe.
