Greetings , and happy Friday Tuesday!

Since the start of your Matching Gift Challenge Campaign I have brought you stories from one side of the earth to the other. We have heard stories of transformation from Botswana, China and Chile. This week’s story comes from Ecuador and our partner Funacion Vista Para Todos.

Maria is 28 years old and lives with her husband, mother and four children in a coastal community in a small wooden home. Maria has suffered from neuromuscular problems hindering normal mobility in her arms and legs for the last three years. Maria’s husband works hard as a laborer in the fields picking crops such as bananas, pineapple, and corn but unfortunately it is not enough money to cover basic needs such as food, clothing, and medical care. Their lack of financial resources does not allow Maria’s children to receive an education. She is saddened by this and tries to help them learn anyway she can. They in return help her by fetching water from a nearby well and tending to the few farm animals they have. Despite their struggles, Maria’s children are very happy and are excited their mother has a new wheelchair so they can push her on walks through their village and play.maria

Many of us do not understand first-hand how families around the globe struggle each day like Maria. But thanks to you, we are helping spread joy in their lives by providing them a wheelchair. Maria and her children thank you for their gift with their big smiling faces and I THANK YOU.
