Greetings and happy
As we celebrate America’s independence here in the US, I want to especially highlight the freedom that you provide each and every day by partnering with us. Meet Nieves, from Peru:
Nieves is 65 years old and lives near Cuzco. When she was three, Nieves fell into a deep hole near her family’s home. Her legs and feet were badly injured in the fall, but because they could not afford to seek medical treatment Nieves had to live with the injuries. For the rest of her life, Nieves crawled wherever she needed to go. Although for a brief period she was able to get a wheelchair, it succumbed to the rough terrain quickly and Nieves was forced to crawl again. But Nieves is strong and refused to let her mobility issues keep her from living her life. She keeps a small store where she sells small food items. Her reputation around her neighborhood is well known—neighbors say she is an enthusiastic, sociable, loving woman. On the day she received her wheelchair, she also met the Lord. She immediately set out to buy supplies for her small shop. “Now,” she said, “I am safe and comfortable.”
Safety and comfort. And a new degree of independence thanks to the gift of mobility. As you go about your weekend, remember that there is freedom being given out every day through Free Wheelchair Mission because of you. Thank you.
