Greetings and happy Friday Monday!

This week I don’t have a recipient story for you; instead I’m bringing you the story of 15,810 soon-to-be recipients. As many of you know, our 9th Annual Magic of Mobility Gala was this past Tuesday and it was a resounding success raising $1,010,899. The cuisine was delicious, the live music was enchanting and the company could not have been better.

We were blessed to have special guest and wheelchair recipient, Fabio Calderon Bolanos, who was able to speak about what a difference the wheelchair has made in his life. He returns to Colombia having, in his own words, “been able to enjoy the opportunity of a lifetime.” We want to thank Fabio, Maria Emilia, and Ana Maria Borda for coming all the way here to share your story with us.

We also want to extend our special gratitude to a few of our sponsors. To our Freedom Sponsors: Nuwest Insurance Services, the HIS Foundation, and the Hanson Family Charitable Foundation, thank you. To our Independence Sponsors: Nordstrom, Datron World Communications Inc., the Thompson Family Foundation, and Robin and Linda Boyd, thank you. To artist Steven Fishwick, Magic of Mobility Chairwoman Deborah Anderson and our Chairman of the Board Jim Franklin, I also want to say thank you.

And to all of you, please accept my enduring gratitude. The response from our Magic of Mobility attendees, donors and sponsors Tuesday evening was overwhelming in both its generosity and inspiration. Because of the amazing compassion on display, 15,810 people will now be lifted off of the ground and into a wheelchair. As we are back in the office today, I am still awed by our incredible supporters—both those in attendance and those of you who were unable to make it. On behalf of all us here in the Free Wheelchair Mission office and our recipients around the world, again: thank you.
